This great breed is growing in well deserved popularity in the U.S. and around the world, with it's proud, loving, noble chararcter and physical attributes there is no wonder why. The Dogo Argentino, which was originally developed to be a hunting dog, has found a new role in life as a beloved family companion and guardian and we that love and admire this breed must assume the responsibilty of directing a positive outcome. I won't go into the history of the breed, (there are many controvervsial resources on this) as my concerns reside in the future of this breed rather than the past.
Personally, I think the U.S. builds the best and the fact remains that the dogo will be loved here and is here to stay. Realistically the dogo must be bred and raised in a manner that will make it socially acceptable in it's new home for the purpose it will be desired, which is a powerful and loyal family companion, and that is why what we need to do here in the U.S., is to address the issues that we have inherited with the breed, concerning health, conformation, understanding disposition, temperament and purposes in a constructive and ethical way with a responsible attitude of learning, sharing and educating.
My hand is out to people with the intentions of improving and protecting the future of the dogo breed here in the U.S.

The dogo is a wonderful breed, but it did not migrate here without flaws and it wasn't always ethically bred to exist in today’s society. Every purebred dog was originally developed for specific purposes, but few still breed with only one original specific goal in mind. Mastiffs were originally bred as war dogs and were cruelly tested or “proved” in the arena to provide entertainment, but how many inventions go through time without change and improvement.
Dogs have been used as companions in the honorable sport of hunting in this country since it began. However, the ties to pit bull blood-sport fighting mentality along with chicken fighting and senseless blood sport pen testing (which btw, this weekend entertainment proves next to nothing as to a any dogs overall hunting ability, heart or “trainable” confidence and abilities, but does teach a family companion to attack other animals) and has not been accepted in this country for over 150 years, but considered by the vast majority of people (hunters and non-hunters alike) as dishonorable cruelty to the animals we have dominion over and was rightly made illegal. Most people in the U.S. frown not at hunting or maintaining the many various abilities needed for hunting, but at ties to this mentality and think these atrocities as senseless. First and foremost the U.S. Dogo’s reputation must be protected in this country by being raised in a socially acceptable manner. No man owns any of God’s creatures, we are only their caretakers and I ask of no mans approval for the paths which I chose.
